Nato il 17 aprile 1988 a Tokyo, è il figlio di un importante cantante Enka Mori Shinichi.
Nel 2003 viene scelto per far parte del gruppo di JPop NEWS, ma prima del debutto decide di uscrirne per continuare gli studi.
Nel 2005 accadono due cose importanti nella sua vita: decide di unirsi ai ONE OK ROCK (allora formati da Toru, Ryota e Alex) con il nome di Taka, preso dal nome della famiglia materna Takahiro che ha scelto come legale dopo il divorzio dei genitori avvenuto nello stesso periodo.
